Way Out Signs
Probably one of the most characteristic aspects of this grandiose ceramic tiling scheme is the WAY OUT and NO EXIT signs on the platforms. None of the early stations had them and they did not feature on all of the others either. Reproduced here are a two examples. The left-hand picture was taken at Caledonian Road and is from a Woolliscroft station, characterized by the cream infill of the temple-like structure. The right-hand picture is from the Maw/Simpson station at Covent Garden. This manufacturer made them with light green infill. Both stations survive quite well and are worth a visit.
